Current Volunteer Opportunities!

Get Involved — Volunteer!

When adults volunteer, all students benefit! There are many opportunities for parents and community members to get involved!  Your help is needed!  Complete the Volunteer Interest form and we will be in touch with you.

Both new and returning volunteers are required to register with Leander ISD each year.
We encourage you to start this process in the summer, so that you are approved to volunteer once the school year begins. You can apply to volunteer at Rutledge (or any other LISD school), by clicking here

Will you please volunteer with us?  Consider Yourself Asked!

The number one reason people don't volunteer is because no one asked them. Well, we are asking you to be involved! Your time and knowledge are needed and wanted by our staff and students. The diversity of our community and the experiences you can share with our students are valuable to us. Whether it's a little time or a lot of time;  on campus or at home; mom, dad or grandparent - WE NEED YOU!
Parent involvement is a powerful too. Get involved today!

LISD VOLUNTEER HANDBOOK

Our Volunteers are an extremely important part of LISD campuses!
For over 25 years, Leander ISD volunteers have made a difference in the lives of students from pre-K through graduation. LISD would not be the great district that it is without our volunteers and their countless of hours of service to our students. Our volunteers:
  • serve as PTA board members and committee chairs,
  • chaperon field trips,
  • help in the library or the office,
  • assist with teacher workroom requests,
  • help during testing,
  • serve special lunches in the cafeteria,
  • help at Book Fairs or Field Day,
  • help with fun community building events like the Fall Festival,
  • help in the classroom,
  • organize classroom parties,
  • and much more!

Why Should I Volunteer?
"When do I have time to volunteer?" you ask yourself. Volunteering at your child's campus may be one of the most important, life-altering things you can ever do for your child. Why you ask?

Children Benefit
Researchers have been studying the effects parent attitudes and actions have on their children's academic success for more than 30 years. The results have been consistent. When parents are involved in their children's education at home, they do better in school. And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school and the schools they go to are better (Henderson & Berla).

A Significant Difference
One study found that students from families with above-average parent involvement were 30% more successful (in test scores, teacher ratings, retention rates, GPA) in school than those with below-average involvement.

Teachers and Staff Benefit Too
We're talking about our teachers and staff - the very teachers and staff who nurture your child everyday throughout the school year. We need your helping hands and smiling faces on our campuses to help lighten the load for our staff giving them more time in the classroom. We appreciate your time and talents in LISD schools.

And, So Do Parents
When parents become involved in their children's education, the parents are more likely to:
  • be more confident at school,
  • be more confident as parents and their ability to help their children learn,
  • be held in higher esteem by teachers and have them expect more from their children,
  • and enroll in continuing education to advance their own schooling.

Start Early
When parents get involved early in their children's education, the results are more pronounced and long-lasting. Elementary school is the perfect time to get involved.
